Multiple Plano ISD campus threats reported to authorities Monday, police say

Authorities on Monday responded to multiple calls related to potential threats at Plano ISD campuses, according to police.

The Plano Police Department was notified of multiple weapon-related threats at “several PISD campuses” on Monday. No guns were found at any of the campuses, police said in a news release. In one of the investigations, officers learned a Bowman Middle School student brought a BB gun to school.

Police said the department learned of a social media post stating that a shooting would occur Tuesday at Clark High School. There will be increased police presence at the campus Tuesday, according to the release.

Authorities identified a former student of the high school who recently transferred out of state as the suspect in the incident, police said.

Investigators interviewed the former student’s parents, and authorities will monitor them “due to possible pending charges,” according to police.

Police said a student at Hendrick Middle School took the social media post related to the high school campus and edited it to read as if the threat was targeting the middle school. The student then sent the edited post to a group of students via text message, according to police. The incident is still under investigation and charges are pending, police said.

Additionally, someone reported to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office tip line that a Vines High School student who had a gun was making threats, according to police.

The student also shared an altered photo of people evacuating Allen Premium Outlets, where a gunman killed eight people and injured seven others, police said.

The student accused of making threats was separated from the rest of the student population, according to police. The “validity of the threats could not be verified,” police said, adding no charges have been filed.

Plano ISD did not immediately return a request for comment.

Multiple North Texas school district have dealt with threats directed at campuses in recent days.

A 13-year-old girl was taken to custody Monday by authorities following an investigation into threats made to multiple Frisco ISD campuses, according to police.

Azle officers responded to a threat at Azle High School on Friday after “an unknown male said he was armed with weapons inside the high school.” Investigators did not find any evidence of a threat, the department has said.

Lake Worth ISD announced on its Facebook page one of its campuses also received a threat Friday that turned out to be false.
