Man accused of crashing, causing fire in North Richland Hills during police car chase

A man was arrested Saturday evening and is accused of crashing into a house in North Richland Hills and causing a fire while leading officers on a car chase.

Around 11 p.m. officers tried to stop a motorist, identified as Daniel Laseman, 37, police said. Laseman led officers on a short chase before crashing into a home in the 7500 block of Hightower Drive, according to police.

The crash caused the car to catch fire, and the flames spread to the house before being “quickly extinguished,” police said. No one in the home was injured, police said.

Laseman, who was in the North Richland Hills Joint Detention Facility on Sunday, is facing one count of driving while intoxicated and one count of evading arrest/detention with vehicle, police said. His bail was set at $5,000.
