Coppell ISD bus driver arrested, accused of aggravated sexual assault of a student

A bus driver for Coppell ISD was arrested this week, accused of aggravated sexual assault of a student, the district announced Tuesday.

Paul Russo was arrested Monday by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Coppell ISD superintendent Dr. Brad Hunt said in a statement. Russo worked for Durham Transportation Services, a third-party contractor that provides transportation services for the district.

Hunt said the allegations against Russo involved a Coppell ISD student; an arrest report was not immediately available Wednesday morning.

“Allegations and charges of this nature are alarming and are intolerable,” Hunt said. “The district takes these matters very seriously and is committed to student safety as its top priority.”

Hunt asked anyone whose child experienced concerning behavior from Hunt to contact student and staff services director Jennifer Villines at 214-496-6068 or jvillines@coppellisd.com, adding bus drivers often drive multiple routes, drive students for field trips or substitute for other drivers.

Counselors were made available for the student involved in the allegations against Russo, Hunt said.
