Ozone pollution problems continue thru Sunday

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Slightly drier air has all but killed any significant rain chance through Saturday. Our humidity levels will be on the low side so if you can find a shade tree, that 90 won’t feel too bad.

Saturday is also another ozone action day. Ozone is a lung irritant that can trigger asthma attacks in sensitive individuals as it restricts airways. Coughing and scratchy throats are other symptoms of ozone exposure.

You might also notice a gray haze in the sky from smoke particles suspended high up in the atmosphere. This is actually smoke from the wildfires over Canada, and it may linger through the holiday weekend.

Any chance for rain this weekend?

Our rain chance will remain less than 20% for Saturday as the atmosphere dries out a bit and a heat ridge tries to build in. Enough moisture will return Sunday for a 20% chance for rain.

How is the weather looking for Memorial Day?

Memorial Day weekend looks hot (surprise!), but it now looks like we will have a better chance for rain (30%) as disturbances roll overhead. The day after Memorial Day, Tuesday, will most likely be the wettest day of the next 10 with a 40% chance.
