A few showers and storms could impact Memorial Day plans

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Memorial Day will be a near repeat of Sunday with a slightly better chance for more scattered storms across Southeast Texas.

Monday will start off muggy with temperatures warming up pretty quickly, into the mid-upper 80s by the afternoon.

Memorial Day will feature the chance for more scattered storms though, few of which could bring brief heavy downpours, thunder and lightning.

Will my Memorial Day plans be washed-out?

There is a 30 percent chance for rain across Houston Monday, which is greater than Sunday’s rain chance. Still, it’s nothing to cancel plans over, but you’ll want to have a back-up plan for any outdoor activities, especially in the afternoon and early evening. Be aware though that flood prone areas and ponding on roads could be an issue with the biggest storms that develop.

What’s the outlook heading into June?

As of this point, the end of May and early June will be a steamy one with high temperatures returning back to the 90s by week’s end.
