90 degree temperatures arrive heading into the weekend

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Get ready for the heat as high temperatures climb into the low 90s Thursday afternoon. Thursday is also another ozone action day so you may want to spend the peak afternoon hours indoors if you are sensitive to ozone or have lung disease.

And while a spotty shower can’t be ruled out, Thursday and Friday will also be mostly dry for southeast Texas.

June 1st marks the start of hurricane season. Is there any tropical activity expected as hurricane season begins?

Hurricane season begins this Thursday, June 1st. Currently there is an area of showers and storms over the central Gulf of Mexico that has caught our eye. Though the chance is low, these storms could organize into a tropical system over the next week. No impacts are expected for southeast Texas or Houston, but heavy rain and gusty winds could impact Florida later this week.

Will showers impact my weekend plans?

Saturday’s rain chance is a small but, but not zero as it’s going to be a hot and humid day. Sunday’s forecast is a little more unsettled at this point with the potential for a few showers and storms, mainly in the afternoon and evening.
