Daily downpours continue through the weekend

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Another round of thunderstorms will pop up Wednesday afternoon, and some of them could be strong with wind gusts over 40 mph, pea size hail, and a quick inch or two of rain that could flood some neighborhood streets and feeder roads. Where it doesn’t rain, temperatures will easily climb to around 90.

Another ozone pollution watch is also in effect.

Any chance these early week showers and storms return for the weekend?

Yes, a few thunderstorms are possible late Saturday and overnight into Sunday. Isolated storms cannot be ruled out for Sunday, but the rain chance is only 20%.

Is an early summer heat wave coming?

Well, yes! Temperatures will be back in the low to mid 90s later this week, and they only go up next week as a heat ridge builds in. Some days next week could experience a heat index above 108, which is enough to trigger a Heat Advisory.

What is happening in the tropics?
