2 men dead and 1 injured after major crash on FM 529 in northwest Harris County, authorities say

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — Two men are dead after a two-vehicle crash on FM 529 in northwest Harris County, according to authorities.

On Wednesday, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted details of the crash. Gonzalez said the crash happened after 11:30 a.m. at 27886 FM 529 near Bartlett Road, and three Life Flights were requested.

At the scene, HCSO Lt. Simon Cheng said the crash involved a blue Volkswagon SUV and a white work van.

Cheng said the SUV was traveling westbound, and the van was headed eastbound. For unknown reasons, one of the vehicles crossed over the center lanes, and both cars, which might’ve been driving at an excessive speed, crashed.

Three people suffered serious injuries and were taken to the hospital. At the hospital, one of the passengers in the work van died, as well as the driver of the SUV.

The crash remains under investigation.
