Friend wanted for questioning after leaving friend’s body on a SE Houston front yard, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Police want to speak with a 35-year-old man’s friend who they say left him with a fatal stab wound in his girlfriend’s front yard.

The Houston Police Department gave word on Tuesday of an investigation at 5922 Doulton Drive, which is in the South Park neighborhood on the city’s southeast side.

Police received calls about the body at noon time. HPD’s Homicide Division detectives said a victim was found unresponsive. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing the victim being removed from a gray SUV and dumped at the residence, HPD wrote in a news release. The vehicle then took off.

Eyewitness News reached out to HPD officials who offered additional details regarding a friend’s involvement.

According to police, the victim, who was identified only as Tony, was out with a friend when he was stabbed. The friend then called the victim’s girlfriend and told her Tony is “gone.”

Shortly after that call, Tony was left in the yard, police said. The friend is now wanted for questioning.

ABC13 also reached out to the victim’s girlfriend, who said the friend changed his number. She declined an on-camera interview at the request of the victim’s family.

While police were unable to say for sure whether the victim was stabbed to death in South Park, Neighborhood Safety Tracker shows four homicides over the last 12 months in the area.

Data also showed homicide totals of seven for 2022, eight for 2021, seven for 2020, and six for 2019 in the designated area home to 21,000 people.
