viewers spotting hail as severe weather pushes through Friday

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Severe weather made a westward push through Houston on Friday night, with hail and wind gusts as the main threats.

Despite the stormy end of the work week, a big heat ridge is expected to slowly nudge back in as we head through the weekend and through next week.

How does the weekend look?

Over the weekend, the mercury starts to climb again as the heat ridge begins moving back toward Texas. It should be a dry weekend with highs near 100 and heat indices near 111. The heat ridge will continue building back over Texas next week, which should bring us several more triple-digit days. In fact, early indications are that next week’s heat wave will be a bit hotter than this week’s heat wave.

How long will we have to wait for our next chance for rain?

If you don’t get any rain on Friday, you will likely not get another drop for the rest of June. The first week of July could bring some cooling showers and thunderstorms back to Houston.
