Dangerous heat this week prompting another Excessive Heat Warning

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — An Excessive Heat Warning continues through 9 pm Monday and will likely be extended through the week. Heat Advisories are in effect for coastal and northern counties. Sunday was also day 13 in a row with some kind of heat-related weather alert for southeast Texas.

We’re entering a 7 day stretch of weather with steamy low temperatures around 80 degrees, high temperatures around 100, and feels-like temps pushing over 110. We expect a high UV index too with sunshine dominating the forecast through next weekend.

Will triple-digit temperatures make a return?

Yes, Monday. Afternoon high temperatures Monday through Friday of next week could be at 100 degrees or higher. Heat index values could easily be near 110 degrees or greater during the afternoon.

How long will we have to wait for our next chance for rain?

It’s likely most of us won’t see another drop of rain for the rest of June. The first week of July could bring some cooling showers and thunderstorms back to Houston.
