Dallas should stay hot for Fourth of July celebrations, but rain and hail aren’t ruled out

The holiday weekend is underway, and things are still looking hot in North Texas.

Outdoor Independence Day celebrations are shaping up to be hot as usual for the area, with temperatures as high as 97 and a heat index of 105, according to the National Weather Service.

However, it’s possible some celebrations are postponed or rescheduled due to some showers and thunderstorms in the forecast. Severe weather is not predicted, but some storms could bring gusts and small hail to parts of North Texas. Tuesday’s chance of storms is 20% as of Monday evening.

Chances for rain continue throughout the week, with the greatest chances of showers expected Thursday afternoon. A cold front could serve as a catalyst for storms Thursday, according to the NWS.

Other than Thursday, the weather service predicts a seasonably hot and rain-free Wednesday and Friday. Things are expected to warm back up the following weekend, with triple-digit conditions returning to the forecast starting next Saturday.
