LAHORE: The caretaker Punjab government has decided to file appeals for the cancellation of bails of those being released on bail in the May 9 high profile cases.
Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi presided over a high-level meeting at the CM Office here on Saturday to review progress being made in legal actions against miscreants involved in the May violence.
He took a strict notice of delay in identification of 171 miscreants involved in arson and vandalism and ordered expeditious completion of the process.
Naqvi directed that cases against all the miscreants should be moved forward in a professional manner and search for absconders should continue.
CM directs police to track down absconders
The CM said absconders should be traced through human intelligence and use of technology and desired that the prosecution process should be made more effective.
He said attacks, arson activities, loot and plunder along with vandalism were carried out under a plan. “We will take these terrorism cases to their logical end,” a handout quoted him as saying.
Chief Secretary, Advocate General Punjab, Inspector General of Police, Additional Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary (Home),CCPO Lahore, Secretary Prosecution, Additional IG Special Branch, Additional IG CTD, Commissioner Lahore division, Deputy Commissioner of Lahore and other concerned officials attended the meeting.
The commissioners and RPOs of Sargodha, Gujranwala and Rawalpindi participated via video link.
VISIT: Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited different areas of the city to monitor the operation to drain out storm water.
He inspected Kalma Chowk Underpass, Garden Town, Gulberg, Liberty, Jail Road, Mozang, Qartaba Chowk, Shahra-i-Fatima Jinnah, Lawrence Road and reviewed water drainage. He inspected the under-construction drain at Kalma Chowk Underpass and issued directions for its early completion. He said the project for Gaddafi Stadium drainage should be completed in time.
TEXTILE: A high-level delegation of known textile brand (Primark) met the Caretaker CM at his office in which matters pertaining to increasing textile exports were discussed. The delegation comprised Mr. John Stephen, Mr. Mathew Rhodes, Siddique Bhatti, Habib Anwar and Amir Fayyaz.
VAN CRASH: The CM has expressed his grief over the loss of precious human lives due to fire eruption in a passenger van in Bhalwal, Sargodha.
Naqvi directed Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Sargodha to immediately reach the accident site. He also asked them to hold an inquiry into the tragic accident.
