5 facing charges after Fort Worth street takeover, police chase in stolen cars

A late-night street takeover Saturday in Fort Worth led to a police pursuit involving multiple agencies that ended with five people in custody.

Officers responded to a “hot-rodders” call near the intersection of North Beach Street and North Tarrant Parkway and found a silver and black Dodge Challenger doing donuts with a crowd watching, according to police.

After officers activated their lights and sirens, the Challenger drove away at a “high rate of speed,” police said. A Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter tracked the vehicle and a nearby Richland Hills officer set out a spike strip that disabled the vehicle.

But instead of coming to a stop, the Challenger pulled into a QuikTrip gas station parking lot and all of its occupants got out of the car and got into a Dodge Charger, “which took off immediately,” police said.

The helicopter continued to track the suspects in the Charger until the car stopped under a bridge near South Riverside Drive and they all fled on foot, according to police.

All five suspects were located and taken into custody. Police later determined the suspects were part of the same organized street takeover group “that committed mayhem in Austin a few months ago,” police said in a news release.

Officers discovered the Challenger was stolen out of Farmers Branch and the Charger was stolen out of Addison. Both vehicles had fake license plates.

Three adults were arrested and taken to the Fort Worth City Jail, including: Gustavo Camacho, 19, on charges of evading arrest/detention with a vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and Saul Olade, 20, and Bruce Camacho, 17, each on a charge of evading arrest/detention. It was unclear if they had attorneys.

Two juveniles were also taken into custody and transported to a juvenile detention facility. Their identities and the charges they are facing were not released by police due to their age.
