Tarrant County authorities seek help solving child abuse case involving ‘MedicalMamaJess’

The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in solving a medical child abuse case.

Authorities say 27-year-old Jessica Gasser is believed to have had multiple unnecessary medical procedures performed on her 3-year-old child, a form of abuse also known as Munchausen syndrome by proxy.

During the alleged abuse, the sheriff’s office said Gasser sent private messages and posted on Facebook about her child’s health under the screen name “MedicalMamaJess,” but later deleted them.

Anyone who has been in contact with Gasser through social media, email or text is asked to contact Detective Michael Weber at 817-884-3749.

Gasser was arrested in Rusk County and booked into the Tarrant County jail Saturday. She remained in custody Monday.

Sheriff’s office spokesman Robbie Hoy said Gasser’s child is “safe,” but declined to provide any additional details about their condition or whereabouts.
