Woman fatally shot after argument in central Oak Cliff, Dallas police say; man arrested

A woman was fatally shot in central Oak Cliff on Thursday morning, Dallas police say.

About 11:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Nicholson Drive, near West Illinois Avenue, where according to police, an argument between a woman and 29-year-old Eric Thomas escalated into gunfire.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she died of her injuries, police said. She was identified by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office as 22-year-old Lusero Guzman.

Thomas was booked into the Dallas County jail, where he faces a charge of murder in the slaying. He remained in custody Friday. Jail records show his bail has not been set, and it was unclear whether he has an attorney.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Detective Joshua Romero at 214-671-4226 or joshua.romero@dallaspolice.gov and refer to case No. 130991-2023.
