Waziristan official injured in ‘militant’ attack

PESHAWAR: The additional deputy commissioner, relief, North Waziristan tribal district sustained injuries in a militant attack, according to a statement issued by the association of the Provincial Management Service here on Saturday.

It said that the association strongly condemned the attack on Qaiser Khan Kundi and his staff.

“The government is required to provide foolproof security to the officers, who are serving in the field, especially in a volatile region of erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Area,” the statement said.

The association reiterated its demand of creating a district regulatory force so as to ensure the implementation of the regulations imposed by the government in letter and spirit and also to provide minimal level of security to the officers working in a hostile law and order situation.

Meanwhile, official sources said that the additional deputy commissioner, relief was in his vehicle when unknown armed persons opened fire at him in Razmak area of the district. They added that Kundi’s security squad and his son remained unhurt in the firing.

They also stated that Kundi was shifted to a hospital, where his condition was stated to be out of danger.
