Shooting under investigation in northeast Houston after 2 people drive to hospital, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Two people were driven to the hospital in a private vehicle Thursday evening after police say shots were fired in a northeast Houston neighborhood.

The Houston Police Department said its Northeast Patrol officers responded to a shooting scene in the 9600 block of Aguila Street, near Mesa and north of Wallisville Road.

According to HPD Lt. Larry Crowson, police received a call just after 9 p.m. about the shooting. When officers arrived, they found shell casings and blood in the street, but no victims.

Police later received word from the hospital, where a 20-year-old man and 15-year-old boy were seeking treatment related to the shooting. The teen was in critical condition and in surgery. The man was shot in the leg and expected to survive.

Police learned an argument took place with at least three people exchanging gunfire. They’re trying to find out who everyone was and why the shots were fired.

HPD added that it wasn’t sure if the victims were the ones who opened fire or if they were bystanders.

The BC13 Neighborhood Safety Tracker shows the shooting unfolded in a designated area that includes City Park East, Wynnewood Acres, and Wallisville Gardens.

The area, which is home to about 9,000 people, counted 346 assaults and just one homicide in the last 12 months.
