One more comfortable morning Thursday, then dangerous heat returns to North Texas

The past couple of days have produced welcome relief from the oppressive heat we have had much of the summer. The pleasant weather will remain this evening, so take advantage of it as the heat will return.

Unfortunately, the break from the triple digits will end abruptly Thursday as highs climb to near record levels. The high in DFW is expected to be 107! An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for North Texas from noon Thursday through Friday evening. This warning is likely to be extended into the weekend due to continued dangerous heat.

Next week looks hot and mainly dry. The one feature that could change the forecast would be a tropical system that could develop in the Gulf of Mexico. If that were to happen, rain chances and cooler temperatures would be possible by mid week. Right now, that’s only a very small chance.
