Record heat, then cooler

The intense heat wave will stick around into this weekend. An excessive heat warning is in effect through Saturday across much of North Texas. High temperatures will be in record territory again Saturday.

The heat dome will shift westward by Sunday, allowing for a weak, summertime front to move into North Texas. This front will bring a shot at isolated storms Sunday and Monday along with a drop in temperatures. In fact, much of next week will feature high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s.

Temperatures will once again heat up to triple digits by the time we get to the start of the Labor Day weekend.
