Wife charged after husband and adult son shot during argument in NW Harris Co. area, deputies say

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A 16-year-old girl was present when her mother allegedly shot her father in an incident that also left her brother injured, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Taifiah Talese Jones-Ford has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault for allegedly shooting her husband, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

Deputies were called to the home on Shady Canyon Lane near Jones Road in Cypress at about 4:20 p.m. Monday.

According to Gonzalez, preliminary information stated there was a dispute between Jones-Ford and her husband.

When deputies arrived, they found the husband and their adult son, shot. The two men were taken to the hospital.

The husband had a gunshot wound to his hip, and the son was shot in the chest, according to deputies.

In an update, Gonzalez said the husband managed to take the pistol from Jones-Ford after being shot, and his son attacked him. Gonzalez said that’s when the gun was fired a second time, striking their son.

Investigators said the wife stayed at the scene, where she was later arrested.

The couple’s 16-year-old daughter witnessed the shooting, according to Sgt. Charlotte Webster, with the Domestic Violence Unit.

“We don’t know what the argument was over,” Webster said. Although details are limited, Webster said the son was shot on a sidewalk across the street.

Investigators said there were no previous calls to the home.

A shooting sent one person to the hospital Monday. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating in a neighborhood near Highway 249.
