Armored-car guard fatally shot during robbery in Old East Dallas, police say

An armored-car guard was fatally shot during a robbery in Old East Dallas on Friday morning, police said.

About 9:30 a.m., officers were dispatched for calls of a shooting in the 100 block of South Carroll Avenue, near Main Street, where police say the uniformed guard had been shot during a robbery. The department did not elaborate on the circumstances of the robbery.

The man, identified as 52-year-old David Ruback, was taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to authorities. Police said about 4:30 p.m. that he had died.

As of Friday afternoon, no arrests had been made.
