Hotter weather before a big change in the pattern

It’s the summer that just won’t end. Aside from a few weekend thunderstorms, so far the transition from August into September has been rather uneventful. In fact, as far as temperatures are concerned, it would appear we’re going backwards. More triple digits are in store the next several days. A Heat Advisory is in effect today. By the end of the week, record highs will be in jeopardy, especially Thursday and Friday.

By this weekend, a slight shift in the pattern will bring a chance of rain. A much more pronounced change in the pattern is expected early next week with a chance of thunderstorms and cooler weather.
