Heavy storms come to an end this evening

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The heavy storms that brought gusty winds and 1-4″ of much needed rain to the area Friday will move off the coast this evening.

More rain is on the way especially Saturday afternoon-early evening but coverage won’t be quite as high as what we saw Friday. Rain chances decrease on Sunday as drier air moves back in.

How much more rain can we expect?

Where it does rain on Saturday, another inch or two is possible.

Where is the rain most likely to fall Saturday?

Areas west and southwest of Houston will have the best chance for rain. As usual, watch out for lightning as the storms push through.

Are there any other tropical threats on the horizon for the Gulf of Mexico?

At this time, there are no immediate threats to the Gulf of Mexico, and we expect wind shear to remain high over the Gulf for the next couple of weeks. We are monitoring category 2 Hurricane Lee in the Atlantic for impacts to the U.S. East Coast this week.
