Racism-filled flyers found in Allen, Prosper over the weekend, officials say

Residents in at least two Collin County cities found racism-filled flyers in their neighborhoods over the weekend.

Todd Rice, a spokesman for the town of Prosper, said residents of La Cima subdivision alerted police about “hateful and divisive” materials they found Saturday.

“The Town of Prosper detests the abhorrent content of these materials, and the Prosper Police Department will continue to monitor the situation closely,” Rice said in a statement Tuesday.

Racist flyers also were found in Allen, according to police.

Sgt. Jonathan Maness, a police spokesman, said flyers were placed on cars, adding that the department has notified the FBI and the Anti-Defamation League. The cars were parked outside a gun show, WFAA-TV (Channel 8) reported.

“At this point there is no offense other than an ordinance violation of solicitation, however it is unknown who placed them on vehicles,” Maness said in a statement.

Texas has seen an uptick in hate and extremism in recent years, according to a report released last week by the ADL.
