Woman hospitalized after suspect crashes into 2 vehicles at end of brief chase, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A man leading Harris County law enforcement on a chase reportedly smashed into two vehicles Monday morning, sending one woman to the hospital.

The woman is expected to be OK, according to a public information officer for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Officials said she had no visible injuries and was transported to the hospital out of an abundance of caution.

The crash happened on West Gulf Bank Road near the North Freeway Frontage Road.

The chase started at about 11:24 a.m. on the North Freeway Frontage Road near West Mount Houston Road when deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

Houston Police Department Chief Troy Finner announced a revised policy of initiating a chase on fleeing suspects.

Law enforcement would not confirm why they attempted to stop the suspect’s white pick-up truck.

Investigators said they were concerned the information could tip off others involved in the investigation that initiated the stop.

The sheriff’s office only identified the suspect as a 25-year-old man. The spokesperson said it is likely he will be charged with felony evading.
