Teen dead, 2 suspects in custody after Grand Prairie shooting, police say

Two teenagers were arrested this week on a capital murder charge in a fatal shooting in Grand Prairie, police say.

U.S. marshals arrested Nathan Nix, 19, Friday in the slaying of 18-year-old Simon Nguyen, Grand Prairie police said. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney.

On Saturday, officers with the help of the U.S. marshals arrested Nakarius Hall, 19, at his Arlington home, police said. Hall was an accomplice in Nguyen’s slaying, according to police.

A little before 11 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to Medical City ER Grand Prairie, where they found a man with a gunshot wound who had been sent to the hospital by his friends, police said. The victim, Nguyen, was pronounced dead by emergency room staff.

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office said Nguyen died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Detectives determined that Nix and Nguyen, who knew each other, met in the 1000 block of Coffeyville Trail, near South Robinson Road. They were engaged in “possible high-risk activity” when a disturbance between them occurred and Nguyen was shot, police said in a news release.

No additional information was immediately available.
