Teen facing murder charge in connection with fatal Pleasant Grove shooting, police say

An arrest warrant has been issued for a teen facing a murder charge in connection with a fatal shooting in Pleasant Grove last week, police said Monday.

About 12:30 p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 1000 block of Cheyenne Road, just southeast of the intersection of Lake June Road and Masters Drive, according to Dallas police.

Desmond Valentine, 21, whom investigators believe was shot at the location, was taken to a hospital. On Monday, he died at the medical facility, police said.

Investigators believe 18-year-old Jeremy Walker was responsible for the shooting.

Kristin Lowman, a Dallas police spokeswoman, said Walker “contacted detectives and was taken into custody” by authorities Saturday on an aggravated assault charge.

Douglas Sisk, a spokesman for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, said Walker posted bond and was released from Dallas County jail on Sunday. It is unclear if Walker has an attorney.

With the death of the victim, Walker now faces a murder charge, according to Dallas police. A warrant has been issued for his arrest, police said.
