Former Keller ISD employee arrested, accused of improper relationship with student in 2017

Fort Worth police last week arrested a former school employee accused of having an improper relationship with a student in 2017, according to Tarrant County court records.

On Oct. 10, Keli Borish, 34, of Saginaw was booked into the Tarrant County jail, records show. She is facing one count of improper relationship between educator and student, and an indecency with a child charge. Her bail was set at $20,000 and she was released on bond, according to online records.

The date of the offense was listed as April 1, 2017, and Fort Worth police confirmed that the arrest was made in connection with an investigation stemming from June that same year. The department did not provide any further information, citing the “nature and age of the victim.”

Keller ISD officials confirmed to The Dallas Morning News that Borish worked on multiple campuses as a paraprofessional from 2016 to May 2023 and as student-teacher at Trinity Meadows Intermediate School from the beginning of the fall semester to mid-September this year.

In a written statement, district officials said they were “very disappointed to learn about” the allegations.

“While we do not have any additional information at this time, we will continue cooperating with the authorities in any way that we can. The distinctions between appropriate and inappropriate conduct are clearly established for all Keller ISD employees, and we will continue to hold all of our employees to the high standards we all expect from an educational institution,” the statement read.

Landon Loker, Borish’s attorney, disputed the accusations.

“We believe that Keli [Borish] is completely innocent of the charges, and we look forward to clearing her name in court,” Loker said in a written statement Thursday.

State records showed that Borish most recently got her Texas Educator Certificate in September 2022 to be an educational aide. She had also been certified to be an educational aide from December 2016 to the end of August 2022. Her current educator certification status, which was listed as “valid” as of 6 p.m. Wednesday, is set to expire in September 2024, online records show.
