Dallas: Representatives of the Pakistan Society of North Texas and local Pakistani American industrialists and business community members held a joint press conference today, expressing profound concern over the government’s decision to withdraw the notification appointing Tahir Javaid, a Pakistani American businessperson in Texas, as the State Minister for Investment in the Pakistani cabinet. They consider this decision a significant loss for Pakistan.
Renowned Pakistani American business leader and former Chairman of the Pak American Business Forum, Hafeez Khan, addressed the press conference, stating that they strongly condemn the decision to relieve Tahir Javaid of his duties. They are well aware of Tahir Javaid’s long-standing service not only to the Pakistani community in the United States but also for Pakistan itself.
Abid Malik, Board of Trustees of PSNT of North Texas, mentioned that what happened with Tahir Javaid in the presence of overseas Pakistanis is not a noble act. They express not only disapproval of this decision but also solidarity with Tahir Javaid.
Barkat Basria, Ismail busines community leaders of North Texas, asserted that Tahir Javaid is not only an extremely hardworking individual but has always supported various events. His treatment was not a proper way to respond to his contributions.
The Secretary-General of the Pakistan Society of North Texas Abid Baig stated that, before the implementation of this notification, investigations should have been carried out regarding Tahir Javaid’s contributions to the national security of Pakistan. At present, Tahir Javaid holds a crucial position in the United States Democratic party , and he could have played a vital role in serving Pakistan.
Waqar Khan, Chairman of the Pak American Business Forum, mentioned that Tahir Javaid’s services to Pakistan have been invaluable. What happened based on personal animosities was inappropriate, and those involved in such actions should be held accountable.
Leaders at the press conference emphasized that Tahir Javaid has always worked for the betterment of Pakistan. They said Tahir Javeed has not been associated with any Pakistani political party and has never formally participated in any party. The reason for this is his unwavering commitment to assisting Pakistan. They pointed out that where there are friends in politics, there are also political adversaries, and those who engage in activities to undermine their opponents. Similar actions were taken against Tahir Javaid by envious individuals and those with ulterior motives, and a coordinated campaign through social media ensued. In this context, current American officials also offered explanations, stating that there is no truth in what is being spread on social media. They emphasized that only a jealous person benefits from this situation, while Pakistan and the Pakistani community suffer a significant loss. Pakistanis living throughout the United States do not consider this government’s action as correct. They called on the caretaker Prime Minister and Army chief to reconsider his decision in the best interests of Pakistan, immediately retracting this unjust decision.
