Pakistan held to 3-3 draw by India

LAHORE: Pakistan conceded in the dying minutes to India as the two teams played out an absorbing 3-3 draw on the opening day of the Sultan Johor Junior Hockey Cup in Johor Bahru, Malaysia on Friday.

India took the lead through Amandeep’s 30th-minute field goal but Pakistan levelled matters barely 60 seconds later as Arbaaz Ahmed converted a penalty corner.

Abdul Hanan Shahid’s field goal in the 49th put Pakistan in front but India set up a frantic finale when Arjun levelled with four minutes to go.

Arbaz put Pakistan back in front with another drag-flick conversion in the 58th only for Uttam to score a minute later to ensure the points were shared.

Pakistan will play New Zealand in their second group game on Saturday before meeting Malaysia on Oct 31.
