The fall cold front is here, get ready for a chilly Monday

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — That strong cold front we’ve been talking about all weekend is here and it will soon pave the way for a cold start to the week.

Temperatures will reach the mid-upper 40s by Monday morning. Factor in a northerly breeze between 20 to 25 mph and we get a wind chill that will make it feel like 40 degrees throughout the day Monday. The real kicker is how temperatures wont rise that much Monday, only to near 50 degrees under a mostly cloudy sky. And with that, passing light showers are possible throughout the day, making for a damp and dreary Monday.

How cold will it get behind this front?

By Monday morning it will be in the 40s, and there are signs that if we get enough rain, it might stay in the 40s all day! And that’s with a north wind gusting up to 30 mph. Tuesday will only warm into the upper 50s, so you’ll want a warm jacket for the last two days of October. Once the clouds clear out by Wednesday, it will get even colder at night. Next Thursday, we could get our first morning this fall with widespread lows in the upper 30s!

What’s the outlook for trick-or-treat time next Tuesday?

Temperatures will slowly dropping through the 50s as the evening goes on if the clouds are still around. If the clouds clear by trick-or-treat time, it could quickly cool down into the 40s. We now believe any light rain showers that pop up on Halloween will be mostly confined to the morning hours, so it should be dry by evening!
