Trooper’s vehicle hit by 18-wheeler after pursuit in W. Harris Co., authorities say

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — Authorities said multiple people were hospitalized when a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper’s vehicle was involved in a major crash after a pursuit in west Harris County on Tuesday night.

DPS confirmed that it is investigating the incident that also involved an 18-wheeler in the area of Mason Road, where Colonial Parkway turns into Park Row.

The agency added that a trooper was talking with EMS workers in the back of the ambulance, but the extent of the injuries was not immediately clear.

Capt. Donald Wine, of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, photos of a wrecked DPS vehicle and a damaged big rig.

Wine didn’t immediately say how many people other than the trooper were hurt. He cautioned, though, that the area will be shut down for several hours.
