Enjoy the nice weather this weekend because a weather change is coming next weekend

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — This is your weekend to get things done outside because next weekend we might be dealing with widespread showers and thunderstorms.

We’re looking at a fairly ideal temperature range for Saturday and Sunday with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s and highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. While it will be a mostly dry weekend for most, we do have a narrow channel of moisture blowing in from the Gulf that could bring a few showers into our coastal counties. Any rain that moves inland will generally stay west of I-45 and south of I-10. We’ll get an abundance of sunshine on Saturday, but you’ll notice more clouds in the sky on Sunday.

Also keep in mind that Daylight Saving Time ends early Sunday morning. The sun will start rising and setting an hour earlier as we rewind our clocks back one hour and gain an extra hour for sleep or whatever makes you happy.

How does the weather look for Election Day?

It should be rain-free but very warm and humid. High temperatures will soar into the mid 80s after morning lows in the upper 60s.

Why are you expecting widespread rain for next weekend?

Our next cold front will arrive on or around Thursday, and while it won’t be nearly as cold as the one we’ve had this past week, it will be followed by days of clouds and rain that should continue right on through Veterans Day weekend.

Are we expecting any heavy rain, flooding, or severe weather?

It’s a little too far out to pin down the details at this time, but we are seeing a signal that low pressure and rough weather may try to move inland after Veterans Day. If that occurs, then severe weather and heavy rain will be possible. We’ll have a better idea of how things will transpire once we get past this weekend of great weather, so don’t worry about it for now!

What is happening in the tropics?

We are monitoring a system with a low chance of development in the Caribbean that’s moving west towards Central America. For our latest tropical update, head to our Tropical Update page.
