Election Day looks warm and dry, but messy cold front brings rainy end to week

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A significant weather change is on the way later this week. For now 80 degree afternoons will be the norm through Thursday before a cold front swings through and brings rain and cooler temperatures Friday and beyond.

How does the weather look for Election Day?

It should be rain-free but very warm and humid. High temperatures will soar into the mid 80s after morning lows start in the mid 60s.

When is our next chance for rain?

Our next cold front will arrive Thursday night through Friday morning, so our rain chances are at 30% starting Thursday evening, 60% overnight, then 70% during the daylight hours of Friday.

Are we expecting any heavy rain, flooding, or severe weather?

Severe weather looks unlikely at this time, but heavy rain could bring some isolated pockets of street flooding.

How does the weather look for the weekend?

It looks like it could be nearly the exact opposite of this past weekend filled with warm, dry weather. Instead, Veterans Day weekend will likely be overcast and cool with lows in the 50s and highs in the 60s. More importantly to your weekend plans, it could be wet both days, but especially on Sunday. For now we have a 30% chance of showers on Saturday and a 40% chance on Sunday. Stay tuned as we refine these numbers in the days ahead.
