Woman’s body found in McKinney home; man facing evidence tampering charge, police say

A man is facing multiple criminal charges after authorities found the body of a woman Sunday morning inside his McKinney home, police said.

In a news release Sunday evening, McKinney police said investigators were recently given information related to a body in the 600 block of Pearson Avenue.

Authorities executed a search warrant for a home in the area and found the body of Heather Louise Schwab, 35, police said.

Chad Christopher Stevens, 41, was arrested at the property, police said. Online jail records showed one of his charges listed as tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair human corpse, a second-degree felony.

Records showed Stevens is also facing one count of assault causing bodily injury to family member.

His bail and attorney information were not immediately available.

“Our hearts go out to Heather’s family, friends, and neighbors during this extremely difficult time,” police said in a written statement. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the McKinney Police Department at 972-547-2724.
