Man arrested in western Tennessee in connection with fatal shooting in Rylie, police say

A 25-year-old man was arrested Monday in western Tennessee in connection with a fatal shooting last week in a Rylie business, Dallas police said.

The U.S. Marshals arrested Kemone Rudd in Ripley, Tenn., on a murder charge. Police said Rudd is being held in Lauderdale County jail and is awaiting extradition.

Officers responded about 5:40 p.m. Dec. 14 to the 2500 block of South Beltline Road, near Kleberg Road, where police say Michael Pierson was fatally shot in a business. Relatives told KDFW-TV (Channel 4) that Pierson was fatally shot while he worked inside the Dollar General store in the area. According to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service, police issued an arrest warrant for Rudd the following day and the case was picked up by the North Texas Fugitive Task Force.

On Sunday, the task force learned Rudd had connections to western Tennessee and could be in the area. It notified the Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Memphis, who began searching for him. Ripley is about 60 miles northeast of Memphis.

The task force and members of the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office found Rudd in the 300 block of Maple Hill Circle in Ripley late Monday afternoon, the release said. Authorities have not said how they connected Rudd to the shooting.

No additional details were immediately available.
