I-45 Gulf Freeway northbound reopens nearly 7 hours after jackknifed 18-wheeler blocked mainlanes

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Traffic was slow moving on the I-45 Gulf Freeway on Wednesday morning, where a jackknifed 18-wheeler blocked multiple northbound lanes.

All northbound lanes, including the feeder road, were shut down just before Telephone Road, causing a massive traffic headache.

The freeway mainlines reopened around 9 a.m., though one feeder road lane was still blocked.

Houston Transtar first reported the incident at 2:14 a.m. They called it a hazmat spill because the big rig reportedly lost diesel fuel.

It’s unclear what exactly led up to the accident. There were no reported injuries.
