Rain likely tonight, then drying out for Friday

A storm system will bring rain to North Texas tonight. The rain move across the area from west to east, with the steadiest rain occurring overnight. No severe weather is expected and rain amounts will average a quarter to a half an inch. Temperatures will remain well above freezing so there is no threat of ice.

The rain will move out of North Texas by early Friday, so the majority of the day will be dry. However, a smaller weather disturbance may bring some brief showers to the area Friday evening.

The weekend looks dry before yet another chance of rain arrives on Monday. This rain could be heavy and in the form of thunderstorms. Sharply colder weather will likely move in with a cold front by Monday night.
