The bond for the suspect in the State Fair of Texas shooting has been reduced to $350,000.

A Dallas County judge has ordered the reduction of the bond for a man accused of firing a gun in a crowded food court at the State Fair of Texas last year.

The bond for 22-year-old suspect Cameron Turner of Dallas was slashed from $1.6 million to $350,000 on Thursday, as per court records, potentially facilitating his release from jail.

Turner faces three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawfully carrying a weapon in prohibited places after allegedly shooting two men and a woman inside the Tower Building food court.

The incident occurred on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023. According to an arrest warrant from the Dallas Police Department, Turner fled the scene but was swiftly apprehended by State Troopers who were on duty at the fair. A handgun was recovered from Turner during the arrest.

An affidavit revealed that Turner claimed a group of individuals approached him, prompting him to enter “defensive mode” to protect his family. Turner confessed to firing 3 or 4 shots aimed at one of the individuals.

The document also stated that an officer who arrested Turner viewed a video recording of the incident in the food court. The footage depicted Turner alone, purchasing a bottle of water. In the background, several individuals were seen approaching Turner from behind.

The affidavit mentioned that a person named Cade Kelly engaged in a brief exchange of words with Turner in the video, although the audio was not recorded. Kelly did not have anything in his hands and did not make any gestures. Subsequently, Turner drew a handgun and began firing at Kelly, inadvertently injuring two other individuals in the process.

Turner is slated to appear for another hearing in the case on Friday, Feb. 16.
