Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford maintain a youthful spirit, keeping their romance alive even after 14 years of marriage.
In an interview with The New York Times, the 59-year-old Ally McBeal alum shared that she and the 81-year-old Indiana Jones star still indulge in practical jokes to keep the spark alive.
Flockhart, who tied the knot with Ford in 2010, eight years after their initial meeting at the 59th Golden Globe Awards in 2002, playfully referred to herself as the “Scare Monster” at home.
“I hide behind every corner,” she revealed. “And then, when Harrison walks in, I’ll go, ‘Raaah!’ And he responds with, ‘W-uy-aah!’ And then we both burst out laughing.”
She continued, sharing some of their playful antics, “I’ll sneakily place a plastic spider inside his large ice cubes in the tray, and then he unsuspectingly drinks it. But then, weeks later, I’ll uncover the bed, and there’s this tiny rubber scorpion waiting for me. It’s all in good fun.”
Reflecting on their relationship dynamics, the Supergirl alum also noted that they are “very independent of each other in some ways,” while also acknowledging that they are “probably incredibly codependent on each other in others.”
She added that one of the reasons their marriage works so well is because they “aren’t competing with each other” in their careers, and she finds contentment in being at home.
Flockhart is the proud mother of 22-year-old Liam Flockhart Ford, whom she adopted a year before meeting the actor.
