Houston police have located one out of three suspects who were shot during an attempted home invasion in Northeast Houston, according to authorities.

In northeast Houston, the Houston Police Department is on the lookout for two suspects who allegedly attempted to rob a man as he exited his car outside his residence early Sunday morning.

Authorities responded to the incident around 12:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of Caplin Street, where the suspects reportedly coerced the man towards the front door of his house.

During the confrontation, an individual inside the residence witnessed the events unfolding and fired shots at the suspects, resulting in an exchange of gunfire.

“After the exchange, the suspects fled the scene. Shortly thereafter, police units arrived and located one of the suspects in a nearby neighborhood. He sustained injuries, including gunshot wounds to the legs and one to the arm,” said Lt. T. Trometer.

The wounded suspect was taken to the hospital and is anticipated to survive, according to investigators.

According to the Neighborhood Safety Tracker, robbery incidents in the Trinity Gardens neighborhood, where the attempted home invasion occurred, had been on a decline from 2019 to 2022, but saw an increase from 109 to 121 in the past year.

The victim recounted that one of the suspects barged in, restrained him, and held him at gunpoint while ransacking his home. Police reported that one suspect attempted to use the victim’s card to purchase shoes.

Fortunately, no other occupants of the home sustained injuries, as confirmed by HPD.

At present, it remains unclear whether authorities have information on the whereabouts of the other two suspects or if any charges have been brought against them.
