Police have reported the issuance of a search warrant following suspicions of an illegal marijuana operation at a business

A marijuana business located near the outskirts of Bellaire is currently under investigation for potential criminal activities.

Authorities from various agencies, including the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Department of Homeland Security, converged on the establishment situated in the 7500 block of Renwick Drive during the evening hours on Wednesday.

Bellaire police, in a now-deleted Facebook post, stated their assistance in executing a search warrant targeting a ‘suspected illegal marijuana operation’ at the Edwards Marijuana Family business, although the building itself bears no visible signage.

Eyewitnesses, like Garry Garritan, described the scene as alarming, with a significant law enforcement presence and several individuals being handcuffed. The fate of those detained remains unclear, but the business resumed operations by Friday.

While criminal charges are pending, Bellaire police have not provided further details despite inquiries.

Property records indicate that Edwards M. Family Inc. acquired the building in May 2023, and Bellaire police acknowledged receiving multiple complaints about the business from nearby residents.

Despite the ongoing investigation, the establishment continued to attract visitors, though opinions on its atmosphere vary among locals.

However, tensions escalated when a news crew attempted to document the situation, prompting confrontations from individuals associated with the business. The crew faced verbal threats and attempts to obstruct their recording, leading to police intervention.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the incident underscored the heightened emotions surrounding the investigation.
