An arrest warrant has been issued for a Fort Worth homeowner who is accused of firing shots at a door-to-door salesman

A Fort Worth homeowner reportedly fired shots at a door-to-door salesman, who narrowly escaped injury thanks to a tablet that stopped the bullet.

The salesman, who preferred not to reveal his identity, expressed his shock following the incident. He recounted his ten years of experience in door-to-door sales for Reliant and emphasized that Thursday’s encounter was unprecedented.

Inspecting his work tablet, which bore the bulge from where the bullet impacted, he remarked on the gravity of the situation. He described the events that unfolded at a residence in the 3100 block of Purington Avenue, where he approached the door around 11:30 a.m. to inquire about electric bills. As he knocked, he was confronted by a man brandishing a firearm.

Recalling the terrifying moment, the salesman recounted how the homeowner aimed the gun at him, fired a shot, and directed him to leave, using a racial slur. Fortunately, the tablet he typically wore by his side shielded him from harm.

When the police arrived, they found the residence empty. An arrest warrant has since been issued for the homeowner, who may face charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and hate crimes.

Fort Worth Police Officer Buddy Calzada emphasized the severity of the situation, citing multiple charges that could be levied against the homeowner. The salesman, still shaken, shared a photo of the tablet showing the bullet hole before it was removed.

Reflecting on the incident, the salesman expressed his relief at escaping unharmed and voiced his desire for accountability. With two daughters to consider, he emphasized the potential consequences of such a confrontation.

In response, Reliant underscored their commitment to the safety of their sales agents and pledged cooperation with local law enforcement.
