The district attorney announced that a man who conspired with a woman to rob a recent graduate of his new car before fatally shooting him has been sentenced to life in prison

Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced that Ronnie Davontay Scott, 29, has been sentenced to life in prison for the fatal shooting of 24-year-old college graduate Donnie Glover in southwest Houston in February 2021.

Scott pleaded guilty to murder on Monday for shooting Glover on Feb. 23, 2021, in the 4000 block of Linkwood Drive.

Text messages revealed that Glover was romantically involved with another suspect, Nichole Clarke-Crocker, 21, who collaborated with Scott to lure Glover behind the apartment complex and rob him of money and his new orange Dodge Charger.

Prior to the shooting, Glover called 911 to report that he was being followed by someone attempting to steal his car. Gunshots were heard by the 911 dispatcher during the call.

Glover’s body was discovered at the rear of the complex when officers arrived at the scene.

Assistant District Attorney Maroun Koutani stated that Glover, who had relocated from Georgia to Houston a year earlier, had spent time with Scott and Crocker the day before his death.

Scott, who was out on bond at the time of the shooting, faced life in prison without parole if convicted but opted to plead guilty in exchange for a life sentence. He will be eligible for parole after serving 30 years. The court agreement prevents him from appealing the conviction or sentence.

The second suspect was incarcerated on unrelated charges after charges were filed for this shooting, but details about the progress of her case were not provided.
