Even after experiencing initial setbacks, GOP presidential contender Nikki Haley maintains her confidence during her visit to Houston

In spite of polling numbers and early setbacks, Nikki Haley arrived in Houston with a sense of assurance ahead of the Texas primary.

During the last primary challenge faced by Donald Trump, one of the final contenders, Sen. Ted Cruz, announced a vice presidential selection. This time, Nikki Haley stands as the remaining challenger.

“This isn’t the right time to announce a VP pick,” Haley clarified. “It’s about demonstrating to Americans that we have options and can strive for better.”

In an exclusive interview with , the former South Carolina governor elaborated on her decision to persist despite losses in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada.

“Our objective is to maintain competitiveness,” Haley affirmed. “I supported Donald Trump in both elections and was honored to serve in his administration, but the truth is, chaos seems to follow him.”

Polling data suggests Haley faces an uphill battle in Texas, with a University of Houston poll indicating Donald Trump enjoys 80% support among Texas Republican primary voters, while Haley trails with less than 20%.

“In all likelihood, by March 5, when Texas holds its primary, she will have lost in South Carolina and suspended her campaign,” remarked Rice University political science professor Mark Jones.

Jones noted that although independents and Democrats supported Haley in New Hampshire, such support is unlikely to translate to Texas.

“Democrats have their own significant races, including a U.S. Senate race,” Jones explained.

Texas Democratic leaders share similar sentiments, expressing skepticism about Lone Star Democrats rallying behind Haley.

“Texas Democrats are astute and see through performative politics,” Haley acknowledged.

One major point of contention is abortion, where Haley advocates for finding common ground, such as banning late-term abortions and promoting adoption.

Regarding gun control, Haley emphasized the importance of addressing mental health rather than implementing stricter gun laws, especially in light of recent shootings.

Haley’s campaign seeks to gain momentum, with potential implications for NASA’s priorities, particularly in lunar missions.

“If elected, national security-related matters would be prioritized,” Haley asserted. “From there, we’ll assess our objectives.”

For Haley, the immediate focus is on winning over voters, closing the gap in South Carolina, and making strides in upcoming Super Tuesday contests.
