Dallas family says luchador mask worn by Jason Kelce belongs to son and they want it back, please

A Dallas family is hoping to retrieve the luchador mask that gained fame when Jason Kelce sported it at Super Bowl after-parties, believing it belongs to their son.

Numerous social media videos captured Jason Kelce, sibling of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, reveling in celebrations while donning the distinctive mask.

In an episode of the Kelce Brothers’ podcast “New Heights,” Jason revealed how he stumbled upon the mask at the after-party, describing its unexpected discovery as transformative for the night’s festivities.

Unbeknownst to many, the mask originally belonged to 8th grader Elijah Smith from Dallas, a devoted Chiefs fan, who handed it to Kelce during the celebrations. Smith recounts how he briefly interacted with Kelce at the party before losing sight of him in the crowded venue.

Despite attempts to locate Kelce amidst the chaos, Smith later spotted videos on Instagram of Kelce continuing to wear the mask at subsequent events.

Now, Smith and his parents, Thad and Sarah, are eager to reclaim the mask, considering it a good luck charm for the Chiefs’ upcoming season.

While expressing their desire to retrieve the mask, the Smiths also reflect on the joyous atmosphere of the Super Bowl celebration, emphasizing Elijah’s excitement despite the mask’s temporary absence.

The family hopes Kelce might consider autographing the mask before returning it, adding to its sentimental value.

Efforts to reach representatives for Jason Kelce for comment are currently underway by NBC.
