Save on furniture at Southwest Surplus warehouse full of deals: ‘Built to last’

In Houston, Texas, finding affordable furniture to furnish your home can be a challenge. However, there’s a solution for those seeking good deals on furniture that’s in need of a new home.

Southwest Surplus, a familiar name to Jeff Ehling, is reopening its doors on a limited basis after being packed to the brim with used hotel furniture once again. The showroom floor is overflowing with furniture, prompting owner Phil Winterton to clear out the warehouse.

The furniture mainly comes from hotels updating their rooms and furniture stores closing down, resulting in an extensive selection at Southwest Surplus, all offered at affordable prices.

From lamps priced at just $10 to artwork starting at $10, mirrors at $30, and sleeper sofas for $50, there are bargains galore. Complete room sets, including mattresses and box springs, are available for $500, offering exceptional value.

The selection extends beyond indoor furniture to include office chairs, such as Herman Miller chairs for $199 each. Moreover, there’s an abundance of merchandise yet to be unloaded from 50 trailers.

Outdoor furniture, like teak chairs and chaise lounges from the Las Colinas Hotel in Dallas, is also on offer, with each piece priced at $199.

Winterton plans to run the liquidation until everything is sold, estimating it will take between 30 to 60 days for the supply to clear. Southwest Surplus, located at 7811 N. Shepherd, will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and beyond, while supplies last.
