Savannah Guthrie calls penning her faith-based book the most vulnerable thing she’s done

Savannah Guthrie, from The TODAY Show, launched her book tour for “Mostly What God Does” at the Bush Center in Dallas, marking a significant step for her as she delves into a vulnerable exploration of faith.

“I’m as surprised as anyone that I’m doing this. I never imagined I’d write a book, let alone one about faith. Not because faith isn’t important to me—it always has been. My close friends and family know that,” Guthrie shared. “It’s a subject that deeply interests and challenges me.”

Guthrie revealed that faith has been her anchor through the toughest moments she’s encountered while reporting news stories.

“While I can’t say I’m comforted by it every single day, year after year, believing in God and trusting in a better world has helped me navigate life’s ordinary heartaches,” she reflected, referring to her personal struggles and those she witnesses in her profession.

For Guthrie, her foremost responsibility is instilling faith in her two children.

“I’ll provide them with the basics, introduce them to God, and then hand it over, knowing they’ll make their own choices,” she remarked.

Charlotte Jones, Guthrie’s longtime friend and executive vice president of the Dallas Cowboys, moderated the conversation at the Bush Center, expressing pride in Guthrie’s courage to share her faith journey.

“Writing this book has been a part of who she is, a piece of her heart and soul. Now, sharing it with everyone, it’s truly amazing,” Jones remarked.

Guthrie hopes her book will both challenge and inspire readers of all faith backgrounds.

“I’m not preaching from a mountaintop. I’m just sharing my journey, acknowledging my successes and failures in living out my faith,” she stated. “I felt compelled to share something meaningful about God, and here I am.”

Guthrie’s book is set to release on February 20, offering readers an intimate look into her spiritual exploration.
