Forney police arrest second suspect in fatal December shooting

A second individual has been apprehended in connection with a shooting incident that claimed the life of a woman in the garage of her Forney residence in December 2023.

As per the Forney Police Department, the suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, faces charges of capital murder in relation to the killing of Jessica Campos.

The tragic shooting occurred on December 17 in the 100 block of Mandarin Street at approximately 10:30 p.m. Upon responding to reports of gunfire in the vicinity, law enforcement discovered Campos deceased from gunshot wounds inside her garage. Evidence suggested that the assailant fled the scene after sustaining gunshot wounds.

Approximately an hour later, Arlington Police officers were summoned to a 24-hour ER facility in the 3300 block of Cooper Street after receiving reports of an unresponsive young man found in the parking lot. The individual, identified as 17-year-old Andrew Chazarreta of Fort Worth, was pronounced dead at the scene due to apparent gunshot wounds.

After collaborating with Forney Police, Arlington authorities determined that Chazarreta was the individual responsible for the shooting that resulted in Campos’ death.

Investigators surmise that Campos and Chazarreta engaged in a dispute that escalated into a fatal shooting, resulting in both individuals sustaining fatal injuries.

Following thorough investigation, homicide detectives apprehended a second suspect from Crowley on Saturday, February 17. The police department has stated that the suspect’s identity will be disclosed following their appearance before a judge.

Forney Police Chief Carrie White issued a statement subsequent to the arrest.
